Introduced during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Veneno is a limited production, high-performance sports car developed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the famed Italian automobile manufacturer. Upon its unveiling, the Lamborghini Veneno had a price tag of USD $4 Million which made it one of the most expensive cars you could find in the world.

The design of the Lamborghini Veneno is based on the Lamborghini Aventador and utilizes a modified version of the latter’s 6.5-litre V12 engine with an output of 750HP. The car is capable of a top speed of 355 km/h and is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 2.8 seconds. It also features a 100% carbon fibre monocoque, frame and body and 7-speed ISR transmissions with five different driving modes.

With the Lamborghini Veneno, the company wanted to create a racing prototype that was built for the road. The front of the vehicle is designed to allow for maximum airflow and improved downforce, the latter of which is possible due to a central element that connects to the wheel arches through two wings. The central part of the car, where the engine is stored, is designed to maximize the dissipation of heat through a large number of hexagonal openings situated above the engine. The wheels of the vehicle sport a turbine-like design and work to help cool the vehicle’s carbon ceramic braking system.

The Lamborghini Veneno is one of the company’s rarest models as only 13 were ever produced. Three Veneno Coupé were made sporting the colours of the Italian flag and another grey coloured model is on display at the Museum of Lamborghini Technologies. Rounding out that figure are 9 Veneno Roadsters.
