A Glimpse into The Life of Freelancers

A Glimpse into The Life of Freelancers

My first experience, as one of the few hired freelancers, was for a big Indian wedding. And when I say big, I mean it. It was a huge deal, with so many guests flying in from different places. Initially, it was all very overwhelming with everything that was going around… but in a good way.

It was a 2-day event with loads of work and freelancers are hard workers, more often than not. From making sure that the guests are comfortable and their rooms were ready, to ensuring everything was set up for the wedding. Overall it was very exciting and I learned a lot from that experience. Safe to say, this wouldn’t be my last time freelancing.women’s human hair wigs

Different Kinds of Freelancers:

Temporary Freelance Workers

Companies hire them to work temporarily as and when required in different fields and positions. They can go from being a marketing promoter to being security to working at construction sites. This allows them to learn and figure out something that they’d be willing to do long-term and earn at the same time.

Moonlighters

They are 9-5ers who freelance without taking the risk of not having a job. Along with a day job, they take up freelancing in their free time as a side hustle. They, for sure, have a busy timetable but may go on to make double the income during the month. They also have the freedom to select what project and client they want to take on and take a break before taking on new freelance projects.

Freelance Business Owners

Some people prefer to be a freelancer and not stick to one job, they are Freelance Business Owners. For quite a few 9-5ers, an office desk job isn’t very appealing so they resort to freelancing. Freelancing gives them complete freedom to choose their projects and client but usually take up any job they get at least as long as they build a good client base.

Initially, they can’t afford to have off days as they depend solely on their freelance job for their earnings. And yes, this may be a risky move but at the end of the day, if you’re not happy with the work and the workplace, you’ll never truly be content with your work life.

A Few Benefits Entitled to Freelancers

More Opportunities

Freelancers often end up working for a wider range of clients as opposed to a selected few while working at a company. With freelancing, you can select the job you want to do which gives you more exposure to different kinds of projects and improve your skillset as well.

Wider Exposure

Freelancers, when working with different people from various fields, have to go through the whole process of taking on a project from scratch starting from communicating with the client to delivering the result. This helps in improving your interpersonal skill and teaches you how to deal with certain situations.

Flexibility in Hours and Location

Most people decide to turn to freelance due to their flexibility in deciding their work timing and location. As long as the job is done well, they could choose to work from home, at night, for a client living on the other side of the world. And all this while in the company of family or friends.

Less Stress

Some projects could be stressful for freelancers as they have to work more and harder to keep their clients happy. But they could take a break to relax and destress, before taking on a new project. Moreover, they could use the time off to build their portfolio, spend time with family, travel, etc.

Freedom of Choice

One of the major benefits of being a freelancer is the freedom to choose your project and client. You could select a project and client you’re most interested in and which could benefit you in the future. As we know, word of mouth is a major source of client traffic for freelancers. So choosing the right client-project combo could ensure better and more opportunities.

Some In-demand Freelance Fields are:

  • Photographers
  • Graphic Designers
  • Writers – copywriters, bloggers, ghostwriters, article writers, story writers, etc.
  • Web and App Developers
  • Data Entry
  • Translators
  • Tutoring
