The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is one of the rarest and most expensive sports cars that you can find in the world. The retail price of the vehicle is an enormous 4.8 million US dollars and only two of them were ever produced by Koenigsegg. But to get to the CCXR Trevita, we should first race through the Koenigsegg CCX line as a whole.
The Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engine sports car developed by Swedish manufacturer, Koenigsegg Automotive AB. The product was conceived in an attempt to create a car that met global safety and environmental regulations, especially those of the US market. The line’s name, CCX, stands for Competition Coupé X with the ‘X’ commemorating the tenth anniversary of the test drive and completion of the first Competition Coupé.
Following the creation of the CCX, came the CCXR, which positioned itself as a better, more environmentally beneficial version of the CCX even though it was powered by the same engine. The greater power output and environmental efficiency were mainly thanks to the fact that the CCXR can utilize E85 ethanol fuel in addition to standard petrol due to its flex fuel system. E85 burns more efficiently than standard petrol and cars that employ it produce 70% less carbon emissions than gasoline vehicles.
And now, we finally reach the titular car, the CCXR Trevita which is a limited edition of the Koenigsegg CCXR. The CCXR Trevita features a diamond weave carbon fibre finish, a new proprietary technology developed by Koenigsegg specifically for this car. This technology gives the Trevita a shine comparable to the sparkle of millions of white diamonds, hence the nomenclature of the technology.
The word ‘Trevita’ is a Swedish abbreviation that translates to “three whites”, a reference to the fact that only three of these cars were to be produced. However, due to difficulty in manufacturing the diamond weave, only two pieces were ever constructed in the end. One of the two pieces was owned by US boxer, Floyd Mayweather which he later sold for 2.6 million US dollars.
