The iOS tech giant released the AirPods Pro in 2019, but a successor is not expected until 2022, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

He noted in an analyst letter that demand for the TWS earphones in 2021 is lower than projected, forcing Apple to decrease its sales projection to 70-75 million units from 75-85 million.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Apple is taking its time with the new Pro buds. Bloomberg earlier projected the same for 2022, although fans of the Cupertino business will be able to get their fill with ordinary pods, which will be available this autumn.

The new Apple AirPods 3 will include a shorter stem, a redesigned charging case, and support for Spatial Audio, as previously reported. Meanwhile, the over-ear AirPods Max are not available.
