Google Messages prepares RCS integration with Samsung Continuity

Google is working on making Google Messages RCS compatible with Samsung’s Continuity feature. Users of Samsung Tablets and Smartwatches can receive calls and messages from a Samsung smartphone using this function. The new connection would allow the Continuity functionality to access and reply to incoming RCS messages while using Google Messages.

It was first reported that Google Messages was releasing an API for third-party apps to handle RCS messaging, however it was subsequently confirmed that the release of Google Messages that contains this content is only available for Samsung smartphones.

Google Messages is a very neat app developed by Google so that people can send and receive messages on the go. We recommend using it as a default SMS application on your Android smartphones and tablets.

The permission is being created particularly because Samsung utilizes Google Messages as its primary out-of-the-box texting software outside of the United States. Previously, Samsung utilized its own One UI software for SMS, which did enable RCS texting.
